251 training hours with makeup artist, Malinda Ballesteros IATSE 798 Local (Bloodline, American Crime story, Iron Man 3, Dolphin Tale 2) and makeup artist Marietta Carter-Narcisse, IATSE Local 706 (Whitney, Sparkle, Baby Boy, Malcom X). In this training I learned fundamental skills necessary for working on television and film including music videos, commercials, daytime television, sitcoms, reality shows, TV series, news broadcast and Film. This covered everything needed to create characters real and fantasy from all time periods, using out-of-kit techniques.  Giving me the skill to transform actors into whatever the script requires and ensuring accurate continuity including but not limited to; 

  • Character Design and execution

  • Injury Simulation, scratches, lacerations & scars.

  • Bullet entrance & exit wounds

  • Several stages of bruises & 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns.

  • Zombie & Dead simulations

  • Ice FX

  • Character aging with highlight & shadow, stretch & stipple aging

  • Bald cap application & coloring

  • Facial hair application

  • Tattoo application & Tattoo cover.

 

Theatrical Makeup

49 training hours with makeup artist Janine Wehby IATSE local 500 (Wicked, Looped, Anything goes). Training included principles of stage makeup for musicals, operas, ballets, and live concerts. and body painting. This training includes application and specific looks such as;

  • Clowns

  • Kabuki

  • Geisha

  • Skull

  • Animal

  • Day of the Dead Masks

  • Cirque du Soleil

Prosthetics

90 training hours on the creation and application of multi-piece prosthetics, blood tubing, life casting, teeth and airbrush techniques. I am now able to design and build customized full face, and neck appliance complete with a set of teeth using advanced special effects lab techniques materials and processes. This training introduced me to foam latex prosthetics, silicone, gelatin. and emphasized the importance of proper textures, edges and the look of a finished application. This also includes blood delivery systems, Co2 and air squibs, blood canons, bladders & bidding. This allows me to use highly effective techniques at low cost. 

 

Dick Smith Basic 3-D Makeup Course

In this training I was able to learn the primary, essential form of makeup that a special effects makeup artist must know in order to transform an actors face three-dimensionally with prosthetics. Old age, alien, corpse ect. This included making a life cast of actor/model, designing and sculpting on a life cast. Making mould of clay features that I have created. Casting flexible prosthetic pieces out of moulds, adhering prosthetic pieces
